Trusting Affirmations for Anxiety

Whether you are preparing for a public speaking event, an important business meeting, or just an awkward conversation, you are probably dealing with at least a low level of anxiety at all times.  The pace of daily life is incredibly hectic -- we multitask, multipurpose and juggle minor and major issues all day long, seven days a week.  If you are struggling to maintain a calm, peaceful feeling in your everyday life, consider adding a practice of affirmations to your routine.

You may think telling yourself that every little thing is gonna be alright (with apologies to Marley) is just waaaaay too simplistic, but that is exactly how affirmations work.  There is a lot of science behind this method and you can use them as a tool to help destress and feel better.  Looking for a way to get started with some affirmation scripts?  I’ve got you covered!

Take a few deep breaths and consider reading any one of the following affirmations (or prayers) out loud.

Trust Prayer & Affirmation

I may FEEL out in the cold but I KNOW I AM NOT ALONE.

My emotions GOOD and BAD serve only as guides to what I WANT AND DESIRE most.

I GIVE LOVE TO MYSELF and CELEBRATE MYSELF.

I have the ability to HEAL MYSELF.

I send LOVE and LIGHT to the places where I hurt most.

I GIVE LOVE and ALLOW myself to OPEN and RECEIVE love.

Divine Spirit dwells in me.

I allow myself to RECEIVE all that I NEED with EASE.

I live in no time and yet I accomplish everything.

I FORGIVE myself. I forgive OTHERS.

I RELEASE all that no longer serves me.

I lovingly allow and ACCEPT all that is without JUDGMENT.

I RELEASE all expectations

I simply let love LIVE.

All that is - is all that's meant.

And so it is.

Trust Poem

There is no one action we take to shift the tides. It is with each action we take that we shape the growth of our world.

Fate makes the map, but destiny is determined by the manner in which you engage your journey.

I remove all judgment.

I release all fear.

I see my dreams in color.

I know my time is near.

I am not the mistakes made.

I am the lessons learned.

They call me strength.

Even without understanding, there is still love.

I didn’t come to teach.

I came to love.

Consider using simple meditation to help calm both mind and body.

Clearing Breath Meditation

  • get into comfortable sitting position

  • visualize and connect to a white light by looking up into your eyebrows then close your eyes and see the light coming down from above and into the top (crown chakra) of head

  • allow the light energy to move through your body from top of head to bottom of feet then down to the center of earth

  • take 10-20 deep breaths

  • Breathe in love through nose - exhale fear through mouth and make “hissing sound” like snake while exhaling out

  • imagine the colors of love and fear as you do so

  • visualize the color of love as light surrounding your entire body

  • meditate in silence

Whether using affirmations or meditation or a combination of the two to help combat anxieties, big and small, the basic theme here is CHOICE.  You can override your own emotions by choosing to do so.  Just like you can choose confidence, you can choose peace.  Remember that nothing has to be a struggle!  Struggle is also a choice -- a perception.  In spite of everything you may be experiencing, no matter how devastating or tough, you can commit to continuing to handle the circumstances with grace and determination.
